Chapter 19 - The Masterpiece of TomorrowThe final remnants of the estate’s dark history were laid to rest on a crisp, golden morning in October, exactly one year since Lily had first knelt on the marble hallway and heard a cry from beneath the floor.

To mark the anniversary, Daniel commissioned a complete architectural redesign of the main entrance hall. The cold, intimidating white marble tiles were replaced with warm, wide-plank French white oak flooring—vibrant, sturdy, and filled with natural grain that brought an organic warmth to the space.
Lily, now seven years old and fiercely proud of her role as the project’s official supervisor, stood by with a small silver hammer as the final wooden plank was secured into place.
“There! Now the house is completely brand new!” Lily announced triumphantly, dropping her toy hammer and running over to hug Clara’s knees.

Clara laughed, picking Lily up and spinning her around in a circle as the morning sun poured through the crystal chandelier overhead, scattering brilliant rainbows across the new wooden floor.
Daniel stood nearby, leaning against the doorway with his hands in his pockets, watching the two people who had completely redefined his universe. He realized that a house is never defined by the limestone it is built from, or the luxury of its chandeliers, but by the hearts that inhabit it and the love that repairs its broken foundations.
