Chapter 10 - The Reckoning at the LakeDaniel froze, his eyes locked onto Lily, who let out a muffled sob through the tape.

“Let her go, Richard,” Daniel said, his voice dangerously low, vibrating with lethal intent. “This is between you and me. She’s just a child.”
“She’s part of your new life, and everything you touch needs to burn, just like my inheritance!” Richard shrieked, his eyes wild with unhinged fury as he pressed the blade slightly closer. “Drop your jacket! Kick it away!”
Daniel slowly unbuttoned his jacket, letting it slide off his shoulders and hit the damp wooden floor. Richard grinned, preparing to make his final, desperate move.
Suddenly, the night air shattered with the sound of roaring engines and high-intensity tactical spotlights blinding the entire interior of the boathouse.
“FBI! Federal security! Drop your weapon!” Marcus’s voice bellowed through a megaphone from the darkness outside, while heavily armed tactical operatives breached the doors from every angle.
Before Richard could react, a flashbang grenade detonated near the corner of the room, blinding him with a wall of white light and deafening sound.
Daniel didn't hesitate. He lunged forward across the concrete, tackling Richard to the ground and ripping the knife away from his grasp just as Marcus and his team swarmed the room, pinning the criminal to the floor in seconds.

Daniel ripped the tape off Lily’s mouth, scooped her up into his arms, and pulled her tight against his chest, burying his face in her hair as she sobbed with relief.
“You’re safe, sweetheart,” Daniel whispered, his own voice cracking as the nightmare finally came to an end. “Daddy’s got you. We’re going home.”
