THE HEIR OF BROOKLYN / Chapter 15 / 20

Chapter 15 - THE COUNTER-PLAYDante slammed his fist onto the table, standing up in a fury. "This is absurd! She's a puppet controlled by Antonio! Besides, I have proof that Antonio has been leaking corporate intelligence to the FBI to bring down this entire council!"

Dante threw a folder of financial documents onto the table, trying to turn the other bosses against us. The room erupted into angry shouts as several capos reached for their coats.

I didn't flinch. I pulled a sleek USB drive from my pocket and handed it to the council chairman, Don Carmine. "Play file four."

Carmine plugged the drive into the room's projection system. A crisp audio recording filled the room—it was Dante’s voice, clearly negotiating a deal with a senior FBI agent six months ago, offering to frame the other four families in exchange for immunity and sole control of the Brooklyn docks.

Dante’s face turned ghastly white. "That's... that's a fake! A digital fabrication!"

"You forgot one thing, uncle," I said, stepping closer to him. "My mother taught me that snakes always leave a trail in the grass. You didn't just betray the Russos. You betrayed everyone in this room."
