Chapter 13 - The Corporate TakeoverBack in New York, Julian Sterling and his litigation team were executing the final phase of the master plan: the complete dismantling of Meridian Apex Holdings.

With Daniel’s signed confession and the digital wire trails seized from the Westchester server racks, the Department of Defense’s economic crimes division issued emergency freeze orders on all Meridian Apex assets.

By Thursday morning, the hostile takeover attempt had completely reversed polarity.

Instead of Meridian Apex absorbing my software startup and private asset portfolio, my holding trust—Hayes Global Innovations—acquired Meridian Apex’s primary real estate assets and liquidated their secondary tech shell companies for pennies on the dollar.

Julian called me from the Manhattan office just as the markets opened.

“Claire, the liquidation auction just cleared,” Julian announced, a triumphant note in his voice. “We didn't just defend your patents. We now own the primary commercial office building in downtown Boston that Evelyn and Arthur used as their laundering hub.”

“Make sure the lobby is renamed,” I said, looking out at the Atlantic from my Cape May balcony.

“Renamed to what?” Julian asked, amused.

“Hayes Foundation for Independent Tech Ethics,” I replied smoothly. “Let it serve as a permanent reminder of what happens when corporate raiders try to steal from the wrong coder.”

Julian laughed heartily. “Done. The title transfer papers are already being drawn up.”
