Chapter 2 - The Crimson SealEleanor Vance snapped out of her shock first, her cane striking the marble steps with a sharp crack. "Security! Get this woman off my property immediately! She is trespassing and clearly unhinged!"

Four armed private guards in black tactical coats surged forward, reaching for Clara’s shoulders.
"Touch her and you die," Lucas barked. His voice dropped into a register so lethal, so conditioned by years of combat command, that all four guards stopped dead in their tracks.
"Lucas!" Eleanor shrieked, her aristocratic face twisting. "You are embarrassing this family in front of the entire eastern seaboard! Look at her—she’s a common vagrant trying to extort us with stolen children!"
Clara didn't flinch. She held out the envelope toward Lucas, ignoring Eleanor entirely. "Open it, Lucas. Or should I let your mother’s guests read the official autopsies of four infants who were never supposed to draw breath?"
Lucas’s hands trembled—a sight no man under his command had ever seen—as he took the envelope. He broke the red wax seal.
Inside was a stack of yellowed medical logs stamped with a classified black crest: PROJECT DAWN HARVEST – STAGE 3 CLINICAL REPORT.
His eyes scanned the top page. His military serial number was typed in bold at the top. Beneath it was a detailed chart tracking the survival rate of embryonic cells exposed to an experimental nerve-repair serum—the very serum injected into him after he was crushed in a building collapse in the Middle East.
At the bottom of the page, dated six years ago, was a handwritten order signed in sharp, elegant ink:
Subject Vance’s genetic lineage demonstrates unexpected cellular mutation. Fetal tissue viable. Transfer all four specimens to Facility B. Inform Subject Vance the mother and offspring perished during surgical extraction. Sealed by: E. Vance.
Lucas felt the world tilt on its axis. He turned slowly toward his mother. Eleanor’s eyes flared with a fleeting moment of panic before her expression hardened back into stone.
"This is a forgery," Eleanor said coldly. "Lucas, hand that paper to me."
"It's not a forgery," Clara cut in, her voice ringing like a bell in the freezing air. "I spent six years running through three continents to keep these boys alive. Every doctor who touched this file is dead, Eleanor. Dr. Vance, Dr. Mercer, Nurse Kelly... all gone. But I kept the original paper log."
The second oldest boy, Ethan, stepped forward and quietly took Clara’s hand. He looked at Lucas, his dark eyes identical to Lucas’s own, filled with an eerie, analytical intelligence.
"Are you our father?" Ethan asked quietly. The child’s voice was small, but in the dead silence of the terrace, it sounded like a thunderclap.
Before Lucas could answer, a high-pitched digital chime echoed from inside Clara’s medical bag.

Clara’s face paled instantly. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small tactical signal receiver. A red LED light was flashing rapidly.
"They tracked the chopper," Clara whispered, looking up at the dark tree line bordering the estate. "Lucas... we have less than two minutes."
