Chapter 18 - A Place Called HomeSix months later. Early summer.

The gentle crash of ocean waves echoed along the rugged, sunlit coastline of coastal Maine.

Nestled on a green bluff overlooking the deep blue sea was a cozy, two-story wooden house with a wide wraparound porch. It wasn't a marble mansion. There were no armed guards, no security cameras, and no grand ballrooms. Just wild roses growing along the fence and the crisp, clean scent of pine and salt air.

On the front lawn, six-year-old Liam, Ethan, Mason, and Noah were running through the green grass, chasing a golden retriever puppy. Their laughter—loud, wild, and unburdened—filled the afternoon air.

They were learning how to be normal children. They went to a local school where nobody knew about genetic engineering or military trials. To the town, they were just four brilliant, remarkably polite quadruplets who loved soccer and drawing.

Clara stood on the porch steps wearing a soft linen dress, holding two steaming mugs of tea.

Lucas walked out from the house, stepping up behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder. The harsh lines of stress that had carved his face for years were finally gone, replaced by a deep, peaceful warmth.

"What are you thinking about?" Lucas whispered, pressing a soft kiss against her temple.

"I was thinking about the night of the Christmas party," Clara said with a quiet smile, leaning back against his chest. "How terrified I was when that helicopter touched down on your lawn."

"You walked into a lion's den with four boys and a folder of secrets," Lucas chuckled softly. "You were the braves person in that yard, Clara."

"I had to be," she murmured, looking out at the boys playing in the sunshine. "I was bringing them home to their father."
