Chapter 19 - Springtime PromisesThe winter months passed in a haze of warmth, anticipation, and careful pampering. Antonio turned into the most protective husband on earth, personally overseeing every dietary detail, rearranging his entire corporate schedule to work from home three days a week, and hovering over me like a hawk whenever we went for our daily walks along the coast.

By the time April arrived, bringing vibrant blossoms and warm ocean breezes, our estate felt more like a true home than ever before.

On a bright Sunday afternoon, we hosted a quiet, intimate family gathering in the garden. Only Maria, Thomas, and a few close, trusted friends were present. The lawn was decorated with soft white flowers, and the scent of blooming jasmine filled the air.

As I sat under the shade of the old oak tree, resting my hands on my gently rounded belly, Antonio walked over, holding a small, beautifully wrapped wooden box. He knelt down on one knee in front of my chair, looking up at me with absolute adoration.

“What are you doing down there?” I laughed softly.

“Renewing a promise,” Antonio said, his deep voice steady and clear. “When I asked you to marry me, I promised to protect you from the darkness of my world. But you didn’t just stay—you brought your own light and transformed everything. Today, as we wait for our child to arrive, I want to give you this.”

He opened the wooden box. Inside lay a delicate gold pendant carved in the shape of a blooming lily flower, sparkling with tiny diamonds.

“The broken lily,” Antonio whispered, gently lifting the necklace and fastening it around my neck. “Mended, rooted, and blooming forever.”

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I leaned forward and kissed him deeply, feeling the baby kick gently against my palm as if sealing the vow.
