The hotel expenses were only the beginning.
Caleb had also used company resources to arrange meetings with Tessa.
He had attempted to hide expenses.
He had misrepresented the relationship to HR.
The board removed him from his position.
Caleb moved into a small apartment.
He expected Margaret to let him stay at the family property.
She refused.
“You are my son,” she told him. “That does not mean I will protect you from consequences.”
Caleb was furious.
“You're choosing Grace over me.”
Margaret looked directly at him.
“No. I'm choosing the truth over you.”
That sentence destroyed the last excuse he had.
Margaret later changed her estate plans.
She did not disinherit Caleb completely.
But she removed him from control of the family company.
She established safeguards for Madeline's future.
When Caleb protested, Margaret replied:
“A man who behaves like this cannot be trusted with unchecked power.”
Grace learned about the decision later.
She was surprised.
But she understood why Margaret had done it.
