Chapter 14 - The Weekend Routine

By 5:00 p.m. Friday, I had packed my briefcase, left the executive suite in Harrison’s capable hands, and driven back to Elm Street.
The transition from the thirtieth floor of Harrington Towers to my cozy apartment always felt grounding. As I unlocked the front door, the familiar scent of vanilla and old books welcomed me home.
I kicked off my heels, changed into comfortable sweatpants and an oversized sweater, and poured myself a warm cup of herbal tea.
My phone buzzed on the coffee table.
It was a text from Harrison:
> All systems green for Monday. Enjoy your weekend, Boss. Don't think about supply chains until Monday morning.
I chuckled, tapping out a reply—*“Promise”*—and tossed the phone onto the couch.
There were no board meetings to prep for, no hostile takeovers to orchestrate, and no toxic family dinners to dread. For the first time in my life, my world was entirely balanced.

I curled up on the living room sofa with a thick paperback novel, letting the quiet serenity of the evening wrap around me like a warm blanket.
