Chapter 20 - The Unbroken Dawn

Thirty-six hours later, the fallout was absolute.

Federal marshals and military police units raided the Aegis command nodes across Washington and New York, arresting the corrupt directors and shadow operatives before they could scrub their terminals. Every false accusation against my family was legally expunged, and the truth about Sofia’s heroic sacrifice was finally brought to light.

Back at the maritime salvage warehouse, the morning sun was just beginning to peek over the East River, casting a brilliant golden glow across the water.

Daniel sat at the small metal table, sketching a detailed map of the constellations with a box of colored pencils while Maya watched over him with a warm, sisterly smile.

I stepped outside onto the loading dock, holding a cup of black coffee, watching the city wake up to a safer, cleaner world.

My encrypted phone buzzed for the final time. It was a secure dispatch from the Secretary of Defense, formally reinstating my operational command and honoring Sofia’s memory with the nation’s highest civilian and military distinction.

I swiped the screen dark, dropped the phone into my pocket, and took a deep breath of the crisp morning air.

They had tried to destroy my son. They had tried to break my family in the dark.

Instead, they had awakened a storm they could never outrun.

I turned back inside, walking toward my son with a steady, unshakeable stride, ready for whatever horizon came next.
