Chapter 6 - The Grand CelebrationBy 7:30 PM, the grand driveway of the suburban estate was lined with luxury sedans and European sports cars. The elite of the local business community—bankers, real estate developers, and corporate executives who had spent years treating Grant like a mid-level nobody—now hovered around him like bees to honey, eager to bask in the reflected glow of his sudden, unexplained fortune.

Inside the vaulted living room, the crystal chandelier blazed with light, casting prismatic reflections over the sea of silk dresses and tailored tuxedos.

Grant stood beside the marble fireplace, holding a crystal flute filled with vintage champagne, radiating an aura of untouchable mastery.

“To new beginnings, and seizing the opportunities that rightfully belong to those with the vision to claim them,” Grant toasted loudly, raising his glass toward the gathered crowd.

Polite applause rippled through the room. Vivian beamed from the edge of the crowd, nodding regally as if she had personally engineered her son’s corporate triumph. Caleb and Marissa moved among the guests, dropping heavy hints about the massive estate expansion and luxury acquisitions they were now positioned to fund.

They were so intoxicated by their own performance that none of them noticed the sleek, black town car pull quietly up to the curb outside, bypassing the valet entirely.

The rear door opened.

I stepped out onto the pavement, adjusting the straps of my midnight-blue silk evening gown, the cool autumn breeze catching the hem of my dress. My posture was straight, my movements deliberate and unhurried.

I walked up the stone steps, pushed open the heavy front doors, and stepped directly into the glittering foyer.
