Chapter 18 - The Graduation Morning

June arrived with brilliant blue skies and a crisp morning breeze that swept across the suburban green of Willow Creek Elementary.

It was Amelia’s fifth-grade graduation ceremony—a milestone that represented not just the completion of her primary education, but the triumphant crossing of a threshold into a bright, secure future.

Gabriel stood near the entrance of the school auditorium, wearing a sharp navy suit with the custom leather luggage tag safely attached to the briefcase he carried. Beside him stood Marcus Vance, who had insisted on attending to celebrate the milestone alongside them.

"I still can't believe she's already heading to middle school," Marcus remarked, adjusting his tie as the crowd buzzed with excited parents and chattering children. "Feels like just yesterday we were sitting in chambers getting emergency injunctions signed."

"Time moves fast when you're finally paying attention," Gabriel smiled, scanning the rows of students filing into the auditorium in their graduation robes.

Soon, the fifth-grade class marched in, led by their teachers. Amelia spotted them immediately from the third row. Her dark braids were neat, her graduation gown swayed around her knees, and as her eyes locked onto Gabriel in the audience, she beamed a wide, proud smile and gave a subtle, enthusiastic wave.

Gabriel waved back, feeling an overwhelming surge of pride that brought a prickle of heat to his eyes.

When the principal called her name—*Amelia Rose Hart, Academic Excellence and Creative Arts Award*—she walked gracefully across the stage to accept her framed certificate and gold medal. The applause from Gabriel and Marcus was deafening, echoing off the gymnasium walls.
