Chapter 7 - The Eviction NoticeWith Mom booked down at the county detention center awaiting her arraignment bond hearing, the fragile illusion of the Callahan family household evaporated entirely by Saturday evening.

Dad sat in the living room in total silence, staring at the blank television screen. Chloe was pacing the length of the kitchen floor, her hands pressed against her swollen stomach, sobbing hysterically as she realized the golden safety net she had relied on had just been dynamited.
“You did this,” Chloe hissed, marching into the kitchen and glaring down at me with pure venom. “Your own mother is sitting in a jail cell right now, and you’re just sitting here drinking coffee like a psychopath!”
“Mom put herself in a jail cell the moment she forged my signature and stole my deployment pay,” I replied evenly, not raising my voice an inch. “And speaking of living arrangements, Chloe, your guest pass has officially expired.”
Chloe gasped, her eyes widening in disbelief. “What are you talking about? I’m pregnant! I live here now!”
“You never lived here. You were an unauthorized occupant squatting in my master bedroom,” I said, pulling a formal legal document from my tactical folder and sliding it across the counter. “This is a formal thirty-day Notice to Quit and Vacate, backed by an active-duty military housing protection order. By Monday morning at 8:00 AM, you and Vance are going to pack every single one of your belongings into your car and get out of my house.”

Dad stood up from the living room couch, his voice cracking with desperate authority. “Ryan! Have you lost your mind?! She is your sister! She is carrying your niece or nephew! Where do you expect them to go?!”
“Wherever they want,” I said, standing up to tower over both of them. “They can move in with Vance’s parents. They can rent an apartment like normal adults. But they are not spending another single night under my roof.”
