Chapter 6 - The Trap at the DepositionWith the conservatorship scheme destroyed, the civil and criminal trials collided during a court-ordered deposition. Ethan was forced to sit across a conference table from Mark and Maya to answer questions under oath regarding the night at the mansion.
Flanked by three high-priced defense lawyers, Ethan attempted to play the victim.
"I went to the mansion to try and reconcile our marriage," Ethan testified smoothly. "Maya became hysterical. She fell over her own feet and broke her phone. Then her father stormed in like a madman, unprovoked, and threw me through a glass table. I never touched her."
"So you state under penalty of perjury that you never laid a hand on my client, nor did you intentionally break her device?" Victoria asked.

Victoria smiled calmly. She pulled a tablet from her briefcase, connected it to the room's large display screen, and pressed play.
