Chapter 1 - The Shattered SanctuaryThe air inside the grand foyer of the Vance estate smelled of expensive cologne and copper-flavored blood. Ethan Vance—heir to the Vance Global logistics empire—stood over Maya, his eyes burning with malicious pride. Maya was cowering against the base of a white marble column, her phone crushed into a twisted mess of glass and silicon beneath Ethan's leather boot.
"You think anyone is coming to save you?" Ethan sneered, grabbing her by the collar of her silk blouse. "You signed the papers, Maya. You’re my wife. Everything you own belongs to me, including your silence."
Before she could answer, the double mahogany front doors exploded inward.
Mark Lawson, a former military operative turned head of elite private security, charged into the room. Seeing his daughter cornered, Mark didn't hesitate. He closed the distance in two strides, grabbed Ethan by the throat, and hurled him full-force into a heavy glass coffee table. The structure shattered into thousands of crystal shards.
"Get away from her!" Mark roared.
Ethan scrambled up, bleeding from his forearm, and lunged wildly. Mark ducked under the swing, struck Ethan twice in the ribs, and pinned him flat on his back. Supporting his trembling daughter, Mark listened as Maya sobbed into his chest, whispering that her phone had automatically backed up the audio and video of Ethan's threats to a secure cloud server right before it was smashed.

Within ninety seconds, three dark armored security SUVs tore up the estate's private driveway, blocking every escape route.
