Chapter 12: The Override Protocol

Marcus Vance adjusted his silver-rimmed glasses, his thumb hovering casually over the illuminated enter key of the encrypted military laptop resting on the metal console beside him. The flashing red emergency lights cast long, dramatic shadows across the walls of the security control room, painting the scene in hues of blood and rust.
"You're too late, Thomas," Marcus continued, his tone smooth and conversational, as if they were discussing a minor zoning dispute rather than the complete destruction of a family. The heavy steel blade spun through the air like a silver flash, catching the corner of the military laptop with a resounding CRACK. The screen shattered instantly into a web of glowing green lines before going completely black, sending a cascade of white-hot sparks showering across the console.
Marcus gasped, stumbling backward in genuine shock as the smoking laptop dropped from his hands and smashed against the floor. "You insane bitch!" he shouted, lunging forward with a concealed tactical knife pulled from his belt.

Before Marcus could close the distance, Thomas intercepted him with ferocious momentum, tackling the corporate lawyer directly into the heavy steel server rack. A violent struggle ensued, fists flying in the dim red light, the sound of tearing fabric and heavy grunts echoing off t
